Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, while addressing the residents of Sikkim in Jharkhand at the Sikkim State Foundation Day function organized at Raj Bhavan today, said that Sikkim, situated in the lap of the Himalayas, is famous throughout the country for its natural beauty and serene environment. Known as the "Land of Happiness", this state is not just a geographical area but a symbol of the indomitable courage, vibrant culture and exemplary development of its citizens. The Governor said that Sikkim has emerged as an exemplary example in the country in the field of organic farming, renewable energy and environmental protection. It is the first state in India to have completely adopted organic farming. By putting into practice the concepts of eco-tourism, clean energy and sustainable development, Sikkim has proved that a balance between modernity and nature is possible. The Governor said that by promoting eco-friendly tourism, Sikkim has not only strengthened its economy but has also presented a model of green tourism for the entire India. The Governor also said that Sikkim is moving on the path of modern development while preserving its cultural heritage, traditional arts and folk festivals. He said that he himself has visited Sikkim. Delivering the welcome address on this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Nitin Kulkarni said that today Sikkim is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the state. This state may be small in size, but it is a leader in happiness. Sikkim presents an exemplary example in organic farming, civic responsibility and environmental awareness.
