Shahdeo elected as new JSCA prez

The results of much-awaited elections of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) was declared on Sunday evening. In this election, the team led by Ajay Nath Shahdeo a Congress functionary has registered a one-sided victory defeating Jamshedpur based businessman SK Behera faction. Along with Shahdeo, the other contestants of Team A headed by Ajay Nath Shahdeo too have dominated the election. Sanjay Pandey has been elected as the vice-president, former cricketer Saurabh Tiwari as secretary, Shahbaz Nadeem as joint secretary and Amitabh Ghosh as treasurer from his team. Polling stations for the election were set up near the North Gate in the stadium complex of Jharkhand State Cricket Association. In which a total of 718 voters exercised their franchise. Counting of votes started at 2 pm and the results were declared late in the evening. In this election, both the factions had fielded 15-15 candidates. Before the elections, on Saturday, both the parties released their manifestos and promised transparency in cricket, participation of players and strengthening the structure. In the JSCA elections, voters expressed confidence in Ajay Nath Shahdeos team. Due to which his team got a clear majority. Ajay Nath Shahdeo described his victory as the victory of cricket lovers and players. He said that his aim is to take Jharkhand cricket to new heights. Newly elected President Ajay Nath has said that this victory is the victory of cricket lovers, the victory of players. The newly elected president said that in the coming time, work will be done at the grassroots level for cricket. He said that efforts will be made to promote players from every village. Along with this, efforts will continue to bring big matches to this stadium. With the formation of the new JSCA team, new changes are expected regarding cricket administration in the state. Now it has to be seen how much this team lives up to its promises. SK Behera, a prominent industrialist and Managing Director of RSB Group, was contesting for the prestigious post of JSCA President. During campaigning Behera exuded confidence about his prospects in the election and promised to usher in a new era of transparency and accountability in the functioning of the states premier cricketing body. While the Team headed by Shahdeo highlighted the motto of The Team Our vision for Jharkhand Cricket We Promise, We shall deliver. It stated cricketer-centric decision-making to ensure effective participation of cricketers in cricketing decisions. It also emphasised on transparent player selection process to ensure complete transparency in player selection at all levels. JSCA is the governing body of the cricket activities in the State (Jharkhand) and it is affiliated to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The JSCA came into existence in 2000 and received full membership in 2003. The association stands at a historic phase in its history as former captain of Team India Mahendra Singh Dhoni is from Jharkhand and JSCA player.
