PM Modi and Centre should follow political decorum: Bandhu Tirkey

  • | Monday | 19th May, 2025

Former minister, member of the coordination committee of Jharkhand government and working president of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, Bandhu Tirkey has said that during the situation arising between India and Pakistan, all political parties including Congress are openly supporting every action of the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But there is definitely an expectation from the Central Government, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that they should follow those established political decorum which is not only necessary for the democracy of the country but is also a symbol of our high standards. Tirkey said that when the Central Government decided to send a joint delegation of all parties to the major countries of the world on the Indo-Pak issue, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju called Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and asked for the names of four Congress MPs who could be sent in the all-party delegation. For this, the Congress had also sent the names of four MPs including Gaurav Gogoi and former Union Minister Anand Sharma to the government within the stipulated period. But ignoring the names of the said MPs, the government has decided to send a delegation abroad under the leadership of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. Expressing a sharp reaction to this decision of the government, Tirkey said that if the Central Government had to select Tharoor as per its wish, then what was the need to ask for the name from the Congress? The senior Congress leader said that the tendency to underestimate the most important opposition party in this manner is dangerous and it also sends the wrong message at the global level.
