For the first time, a unique and innovation based summer camp was organised by Jharkhand Education Project Council in collaboration with Piramal Foundation for school children from class 1 to class 10 studying in 35000 government schools of Jharkhand. The summer camp which started on May 13 emphasised on making children physically active, mentally strong and socially sensitive. Inclusive physical literacy was also emphasised among children by organising day- long programs and activities in the summer camp. The theme of the summer camp was Every day a new experience, every activity a new learning. Prior to the summer camp, the concerned schools were made aware about the objectives of the summer camp and its impact through a webinar which was chaired by State Program Officer Dhirasen Soreng. In the webinar, Soreng gave guidance for the successful organisation of the camp by giving information about effective programs and activities to the schools. The objective of this initiative was to effectively implement the experiential and holistic education approach of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at the grassroots level. Dr. Hasan Ahmed Noori from Piramal Foundation provided guidance while various experts including members of the State Sports Cell gave their valuable suggestions in this event. Every day in the summer camp, children got a chance to participate in interesting and unique activities like Zumba, dance and group exercises which infused energy and team spirit in the children. Traditional games strengthened the physical skills and coordination of the children while connecting them with their cultural roots. Children made sports equipment from plastic waste and designed their own games which promoted creativity and environmental awareness. School children expressed their identity and feelings through art, dance and art and craft. Through aspirational mapping and holistic activities, the children discussed their dreams and life goals. The summer camp concluded with a Khel Mela in which children presented their own made materials and games and wll the children were given incentive certificates. During the summer camp, a My Sports Passport was also created for the children, in which they can record their sports experiences. Childrens emotional literacy (SEL) was integrated in a creative way through My Khel Passport. After every game and activity, children wrote down their experiences, which helped them learn to identify and express their feelings. Besides this, a Physical Literacy Corner was established in schools so that children can play indoor games in a fun and informative way.
