BJP protest over delay in Bokaro Airport

  • | Saturday | 24th May, 2025

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest at Bhagwan Birsa Munda Chowk in Bokaros Naya Mod, demanding immediate action from the Jharkhand state government to make Bokaro Airport operational. The demonstration, led by BJP Bokaro District President Jaidev Rai, involved the symbolic burning of an effigy of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.   Protesters alleged that although the Bokaro Airport infrastructure has been complete for several years and the central government has fulfilled almost all necessary formalities, the state government has failed to carry out minor technical tasks under its jurisdiction. This, they claim, has stalled the airports inauguration and use.   "The people of Bokaro and nearby areas have been eagerly waiting for air connectivity, which is being denied due to administrative apathy," said a BJP spokesperson at the protest. The party accused the state government of adopting a dual stance—showing support publicly while delaying groundwork.   Dozens of BJP workers including Krishnakumar Munna, Rohit Lal Singh, Arjun Singh, Parinda Singh, Archana Singh, Lachhman Nayak, Mukesh Raj Rai, Vinod Mahato, Dilip Srivastava, Shyam Gupta, Mantu Rai, Veerbhadra Singh, Sanjay Tyagi, Umesh Sharma, Braj etc and local leaders participated in the protest, voicing frustration over the prolonged delay. The party has demanded that the Jharkhand government prioritize the pending works to ensure that the airport begins operations without further delay.
