Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh met the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, at his official residence on Kushak Road in New Delhi on Wednesday. During the meeting, she discussed several long-pending public concerns of Bokaro, with a major emphasis on the early operationalisation of the Bokaro airport, which has been a long-standing demand of the people of the region.   Responding to her request, Minister Kumaraswamy immediately held telephonic discussions with officials from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). He directed them to expedite the process of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two bodies and ensure that all remaining technical formalities are completed without delay, paving the way for the commencement of airport operations. The minister assured MLA Singh that the Bokaro airport would be operational very soon in the interest of the public.   MLA Singh also drew the ministers attention to several critical issues related to Bokaro Steel Plant and the welfare of workers and displaced families. She demanded the immediate creation of permanent jobs for youth from displaced families and apprentices who have completed training. She also reiterated the demand for the appointment of a family member of martyr Prem Mahto, who lost his life during the displacement agitation, in a permanent role at the Bokaro Steel Plant.   In addition, Singh urged resolution of the pending land lease issue that is delaying the construction of an ESIC Hospital in Bokaro, which is vital for the welfare of industrial workers. She also raised concerns regarding gratuity payments for retired SAIL employees and requested the withdrawal of eviction orders related to staff quarters.   Further, she demanded the payment of 49 months pending arrears to SAIL employees, resolution of housing issues faced by dependents of deceased employees, and a reconsideration of the plan to demolish the dilapidated quarters in Sector 12, suggesting instead that they be renovated to make them livable. She also called for granting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from SAIL for the development of an industrial park in Bokaro.   MLA Shweta Singh urged the Union Minister to ensure timely and effective resolution of all these pressing issues. She reiterated her commitment to continue raising the voice of the people of Bokaro at every level and expressed hope that positive developments would soon bring relief and good news to the people of the district. ….
