  • | Friday | 30th May, 2025

In a significant administrative development for East Singhbhum district,  Piyush Pandey officially assumed charge as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on Wednesday. The ceremonial handover was conducted with warmth, as outgoing SSP  Kishore Kaushal welcomed  Pandey and extended his heartfelt wishes for a successful tenure. The appointment comes at a crucial time, with public expectations rising around enhanced law enforcement, community safety, and effective crime management. Known for his proactive policing style and firm administrative grip,  Pandey brings with him a reputation for maintaining law and order with integrity and responsiveness. Speaking to the media after taking charge,  Pandey underscored his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the district. This is my second innings in Jamshedpur. I have served as Rural SP during 2019. My top priority will be to maintain peace and law and order across East Singhbhum. Every citizen deserves to feel safe — in their homes, on the roads, and in public spaces, he stated. He further added that a data-driven and community-centric approach will be adopted to tackle rising urban challenges, including traffic congestion, organized crime, cyber frauds, and crimes against women. We will strengthen police visibility and quick response mechanisms, especially in sensitive areas. Beat patrolling will be intensified, and special drives will be launched against drug trafficking and illegal activities,  Pandey noted.  Pandey also expressed his intent to deepen public-police engagement through regular jan sunwai (public hearings), outreach in educational institutions, and close collaboration with local civil society groups. Emphasizing the importance of trust-building, he said, Transparency, accountability, and accessibility will be the pillars of our policing. We are here to serve the public and must remain open to feedback and participation. Efforts will also be made to strengthen digital policing platforms and helplines to make law enforcement more accessible and responsive, especially for vulnerable groups like women, senior citizens, and the differently abled.
