With overcast skies, scattered rains, Monsoon still a week away in State

  • | Wednesday | 4th June, 2025

The weather in Jharkhand has been changing continuously. While many parts of the State including the capital City remained cloudy on Monday, weathermen stated that due to local conditions, there may be low to sporadic rain in some places ruling out the possibility of widespread showers. A rise in the maximum temperature levels is also being predicted in the State. There has been a change in the time frame regarding the arrival of the monsoon season in the State as well. Director of the Meteorological Centre Ranchi, Abhishek Anand informed that earlier it was being estimated that monsoon would enter the State a week before its scheduled arrival but with the present conditions, it does not seem very likely now and there are no chances of it entering the State for the next one week. The arrival of monsoon before time is unlikely as the weather conditions ideal for it are not prevalent right now. Monsoon in Jharkhand arrives from the Bay of Bengal and only after it lands in parts of West Bengal and Bihar and in the next five days there are no chances of its arrival here. However, there will be a rise in the maximum temperature levels in the coming days due to the incoming westerly winds, said the official. As per the information shared by MET Centre, Ranchi, light rain with thunderstorms may occur at some places in the northern parts on June 3. On June 4, the northern parts of Jharkhand and the adjoining central regions may witness light rain accompanied with thunderstorms while on June 5 the northern eastern regions along with the adjacent central areas are likely to experience light rain with thunderstorms. As per the bulletin released on Monday evening, the maximum temperature in Ranchi was recorded at 35.4 degree Celsius which is 1.8 degrees below normal. In the last 24 hours, Jamshedpur witnessed a rise by 2 degrees and was observed at 38.1 degree Celsius while the daytime temperature in Chaibasa rose by 2.6 degrees and was recorded at 38.8 degree Celsius. Daltonganj and Bokaro were recorded at 38.4 and 37.5 degree Celsius respectively which is 2.8 and 3.7 degrees below normal.
