The Jharkhand Bandh called by tribal organisations affected normal life in the State as businesses were affected and road transport was affected in the entire State. Bandh supporters closed shops in urban areas and blocked roads to enforce the bandh. A number of bandh supporters were detained and were released in the evening on Wednesday. In the capital city hundreds of workers of Central Sarna Samiti and Chadri Sarna Samiti, led by President Bablu Munda and Jaglal Pahan, took to the streets to enforce Jharkhand bandh. The bandh started from the head office of the Central Sarna Samiti, Line Tank Road, PWD Quarters, via Line Tank Road, Chadri HB Road, reaching Albert Ekka Chowk, and sat on the roads. The bandh supporters were arrested by the district administration. They said that anti-tribal work has been continuously done in the State as the tribal community is putting forth its views to save its identity and existence at the central Sarna Sthal Sirmatoli flyover ramp and the government is silent. The bandh called by various tribal organizations on various issues including the Sirmatoli flyover ramp dispute, saving the religious places of the tribals Marang Buru, Parasnath Hills Giridih, Lugu Buru, Mudhar Hills Pithoria, Diuri Diri Tamar and Bedo Mahdani Sarna Sthal was largely effective. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Police said through an official release that during the Jharkhand bandh by Adivasi Bachao Morcha and Kendriya Sarna Sthal Siram Toli Bachao Morcha, roads were blocked at various places and shops were closed. The police administration had taken effective security measures to maintain law and order during the bandh. Additional forces were deployed in sensitive and hypersensitive areas so that no untoward incident could happen. In order to maintain law and order, a total of 10 people, 06 from Ranchi district and 04 from Ramgarh district of Jharkhand, were put under preventive detention. Due to the alertness of the police, no untoward incident has been confirmed in the entire state so far. Meanwhile, BJP State President and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi accused the state government of turning a blind eye to serious emotional issues. He said that in the context of the Sirmatoli flyover dispute, the tribal organizations of Jharkhand have again called for a bandh today. He said that the policymakers know that the tribal organizations have been raising their demands in the Sirmatoli flyover case for the past several months. But, the state government has become insensitive and is forcing the tribal society to protest and demonstrate. He said that the Chief Minister is requested to intervene and resolve the matter without hurting the religious beliefs of the tribal society so that the ongoing deadlock can be ended.
