DGP holds review meeting ahead of Bakrid festival

DGP, Anurag Gupta chaired a review meeting in view of security and law and order on the occasion of the upcoming festival Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday. This meeting was attended by Priya Dubey, Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters, Dr. Michaelraj S, Inspector General of Police, Operations, Anup Birthare, Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand Jaguar, Indrajit Mahtha, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand Jaguar and Moomal Rajpurohit, Superintendent of Police, all the Regional Inspector General of Police / Regional Deputy Inspector General of Police / Senior Superintendent of Police and all Superintendents of Police of the state participated physically and through video conferencing. In the meeting, several points were reviewed district-wise for law and order and crime control. Updated status of execution of cases registered last year related to Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) or other communal incidents, required preventive action against anti-social elements in view of the upcoming festival Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid), availability and deputation of magistrates and forces for maintaining law and order, security measures taken around religious places/sensitive places such as installation of CCTV, videography and surveillance by drones. Also joint control room and emergency plan, meeting of District Police Station level Peace Committee, availability of anti-riot security equipment, anti-riot vehicles, water cannons and arrangements for anti-riot control drill in districts, updated status of execution of pending warrants/seizures, control on broadcasting of provocative songs through DJ/other sound systems, special monitoring on social media platforms and prohibited animals, monitoring of smuggling were discussed. During the meeting, all the regional Inspector General of Police/ Regional Deputy Inspector General of Police gave a region-wise presentation of the strategies made for maintaining law and order in view of the upcoming festival. Action being taken by all the Senior Superintendents of Police/ Superintendents of Police of the district to pay attention to monitoring and security of religious places, resolving their minor problems by holding peace committee meetings, action against those playing provocative songs on DJ, keeping special vigil on social media and WhatsApp, strict action to be taken against those trying to spoil the atmosphere during the festival was widely discussed. The Director General of Police, Jharkhand has directed all the districts to keep an eye on anti-social elements and miscreants and take preventive action against them to maintain peace and order in the state on the occasion of the upcoming festival, to be extra vigilant in those districts where communal incidents have occurred in the past, and to keep a strict vigil on social media and if any kind of rumour spreads, then verify it immediately and take necessary action, to make the district control room work more effectively, identify hot spot places and keep a special vigil on them, keep vigil with the motorcycle squad, provide basic facilities to the forces, run special drives and especially to reward the persons who give information about those spreading rumours on social media.
