Renowned gynaecologist of Eastern India Dr. Shobha Chakraborty today breathed her last in Ranchi following a brief illness. Dr. Chakraborty was unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment in the hospital. Recently, former Union Minister Arjun Munda visited the hospital to inquire about her health. There is a wave of mourning in the medical world due to her death. She breathed her last at the age of 85. Dr. Chakraborty dedicated her entire life to womens health. She made her mark as a reliable and respected doctor in Ranchi. About seven years ago, she had a heart attack, after which she was admitted to Medica Hospital. After treatment, she again started serving the patients. In an old interview, Dr. Chakraborty had said that she loved meeting patients and she did not feel like living without them. The people of Ranchi and the medical community will always remember this spirit of service of hers. Eminent personalities of the State including Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and several others expressed grief on the demise of Dr Chakraborty and paid tributes to her.
