  • | Friday | 6th June, 2025

In a major step towards enhancing rural livelihoods and strengthening Jharkhands dairy infrastructure, Chief Minister Hemant Soren will lay the foundation stone of a new Milk Powder Plant at the Medha Dairy Plant campus in Hotwar, Ranchi on June 6, 2025. The event marks a significant milestone for the Jharkhand State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Ltd. (JMF), established by the Government of Jharkhand with the vision to promote dairying as a sustainable source of income for rural households and make the state self-reliant in milk and milk products. Recognising the need for technical expertise in dairy development, the state government partnered with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB)—a pioneer of Indias dairy revolution. The management of JMF was handed over to NDDB through a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of Jharkhand and NDDB. Since then, JMF has been implementing various dairy development initiatives and marketing products under the brand name Medha. The foundation stone laying ceremony will take place at the Medha Dairy Plant campus, while the main program will be organised at Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Khelgaon, Ranchi, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Several dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony, including: Sanjay Seth, Union Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, Badal Neha Tirkey, Minister, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Cooperation, Government of Jharkhand, Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman, NDDB and Suresh Baitha, MLA, Kanke. This initiative is expected to instill confidence among milk producers across the state and strengthen the connection between rural farmers and urban consumers. The project represents a model of collective development, aligning with the vision of an empowered and self-reliant Jharkhand.
