The new infrastructure to be named after the son of Jharkhand, late Kartik Oraon   : On the occasion of World Environment Day, Chief Minister Hemant Soren gifted a major infrastructure project to the people of Jharkhand by inaugurating the four-lane flyover-cum-railway overbridge (ROB) from Sirmatoli Chowk to Mecon roundabout via Rajendra Chowk. Built using the latest technology, the elevated corridor aims to ease traffic congestion in Ranchi and enhance urban connectivity. In a historic announcement, the Chief Minister declared that the newly constructed flyover would be named after the late Kartik Oraon, a revered son of Jharkhand and a prominent tribal leader. This gesture reinforces the state governments commitment to honouring its heroes and preserving their legacy. At the inauguration event held at Van Bhawan, Doranda, the Chief Minister also participated in World Environment Day celebrations by planting a sapling and urging citizens to take up environmental conservation as a shared responsibility. "If each one of us plants a single tree, we will begin to witness real change," said Soren, emphasizing the need for collective action in tackling environmental challenges. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that his government is dedicated to the planned and systematic development of cities. The newly inaugurated flyover is a significant step toward decongesting Ranchis traffic. "This elevated corridor will streamline traffic flow, reduce fuel consumption, and save time for daily commuters," he said. The project reflects the governments focus on building modern infrastructure that complements sustainable urban growth. Hemant Soren highlighted that the government is working with full sensitivity toward every section of society. From better education for children to empowering women through schemes like the Mukhyamantri Mainiya Samman Yojana, the government has taken multiple steps to uplift communities across the urban and rural divide. We are not only building roads and flyovers but also a strong, inclusive future for Jharkhand, he added. While the state continues to advance in development, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of environmental conservation. Development and environmental balance must go hand in hand, he said. He urged the public to return to eco-friendly alternatives and reduce dependence on harmful materials like plastic. Our traditions have always respected nature. We now distribute saplings instead of bouquets at government functions to promote awareness, he noted. The Chief Minister warned that the global environmental crisis cannot be tackled through policies alone. We need will power, awareness, and grassroots action. Only then can we secure the future for the next generations, he said. Reaffirming Jharkhands identity as a land of forests and brave hearts, Soren paid tribute to the tribal freedom fighters and contributors from the state. The name Jharkhand itself means land of forests. Water, forest, and land are our pride, he said. He called for a movement to expand green cover across the state, linking it to the prosperity and health of both people and the environment. Only when the environment is safe, human life and animals will be safe, he concluded. The event witnessed the presence of key state leaders and officials, including Ministers Sudivya Kumar, Sanjay Prasad Yadav, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, MLAs Amit Kumar Mahato and Suresh Baitha, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary to CM Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary Sunil Kumar, DGP Anurag Gupta, PCCF Ashok Kumar, and DRM of Ranchi Railway Division, among others.
