NHAI pushes elevated flyover inauguration date to July 3

  • | Wednesday | 18th June, 2025

Ranchites will have to wait a little longer to travel on the Ratu Road flyover as the date of inauguration of elevated flyover has been extended from June 19 to July 3. The regional office of NHAI in Ranchi has confirmed this. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will gift the Ratu Road flyover to the people of Ranchi on July 3 and will also review the work being carried out by NHAI in Jharkhand. Now the NHAI officials have started making good use of this extra time. Project Director Ekta Kumari said that noise barriers are being installed on both sides of the flyover. With its installation, the sound of vehicles will not reach the people living around the flyover. Apart from this, the work of PVR grill is also going on. In fact, the ramp of Ratu Road flyover is very close to the southern gate of Raj Bhavan near Naga Baba Khatal. Therefore, keeping in mind the security of the Raj Bhavan, a bullet-proof barrier has been installed at this place. Also, care has been taken that the sound of vehicles passing through the flyover does not reach the Raj Bhavan. The length of Ratu Road flyover is 3.57 km. Its construction work started in November 2022. The target to complete the work was January 2025. But there was a slight delay due to technical reasons. About Rs 400 crore has been spent on its construction and land acquisition. Its ramp is near Naga Baba Khatal located next to the Raj Bhavan. On reaching Piska turn, this flyover is divided into two parts. The ramp of one part is near Hehal and the other part is about 800 meters ahead on Itki Road. A total of 101 pillars have been used to prepare it. It has been constructed by NHAI from a company named KCC Buildcon. This flyover is already being called the lifeline of Ranchis traffic system. Because this is a route on which there is tremendous traffic pressure. There is a dense population on both sides of the road from Ratu Road to Piska turn. It takes 40 to 60 minutes to cover a distance of just 2.5 km. As soon as the no-entry opens at 10 pm, the movement of big vehicles to go to Pandra Bazar Samiti becomes a problem for this road. Road accidents happening every day have become the identity of this road. But as soon as the movement of vehicles starts on the flyover on July 3, people on this route will get a lot of relief. At present, the people of Ranchi are eagerly waiting for this moment.
