ACB arrests former Excise Commissioner in liquor scam

The Anti-Corruption Bureau today arrested former Excise Commissioner Amit Prakash in the liquor scam case. Earlier on June 3, suspended IAS Vinay Chaubey, then Joint Commissioner of Excise Department Gajendra Singh and others accused in the Jharkhand liquor scam case were produced before the special court of ACB. All the accused were produced through video conferencing. After the appearance, the court extended the judicial custody period of all the accused till June 9. The accused produced in the court included suspended IAS Vinay Chaubey, then Joint Commissioner of Excise Department Gajendra Singh, Excise Department officers Sudhir Kumar, Sudhir Das and others. Senior IAS officer of the state Vinay Chaubey was called by the ACB for questioning in the case related to the liquor scam on May 21. After this he was arrested. At present Vinay Chaubey and Gajendra Singh are in judicial custody. In view of the serious allegations against them, the state government has suspended both the officers.
