Bokaro DC inspects rain-hit areas, reviews situation

Bokaro deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, along with senior district officials, conducted a field inspection of several rain-affected areas in the city on Thursday. Despite continuous rainfall, the DC visited key locations such as B.S. City, Chira Chas, Pandey Pul, Solagadhi Talab, ITI More, and Chas Gurudwara Road to assess the situation related to waterlogging, drainage, and sanitation.   During the visit to Garga Dam, officials informed that the water level is currently below the danger mark. However, only 2 out of 6 gates are operational, and pending repairs have raised safety concerns. The DC directed BSL and concerned officials to submit a detailed repair proposal within a week and immediately address issues related to lighting and gate operations. A special task force will be formed for dam safety monitoring.   Instructions were issued to alert residents of low-lying areas in case of rising water levels. The Chas BDO and CO were directed to begin miking and identify safe shelters. Similar directives were given for areas near Tenughat Dam, with the additional collector assigned to oversee preparedness.   Jha expressed strong displeasure over garbage accumulation, especially near Garga river under Pandey Pul. He instructed municipal bodies and the National Highways Authority to deploy additional cleaning staff within 24 to 48 hours and ensure quick drainage of waterlogged areas.   At Solagadhi Talab, the DC noted the absence of basic amenities, particularly for women, and instructed the construction of dress changing rooms, lighting, and beautification work under CSR initiatives. He also discussed plans to develop the Garga Dam area as a local tourist spot with picnic zones and selfie points.   Emphasising civic responsibility, the DC warned of penalties for those littering public places and directed officials to impose fines. He appealed to residents to cooperate and maintain cleanliness.   The DC reiterated that public safety is the top priority and urged people to remain calm during emergencies.
