Bandhu opposes acquisition of Khatiyani land in Nagdi for RIMS construction

  • | Monday | 23rd June, 2025

Former minister, member of the coordination committee of the Jharkhand government and working president of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee Bandhu Tirkey has said that acquisition of land of the raiyats and villagers who are earning their livelihood by farming in Nagdi Mauja for RIMS-2 is such a negative and anti-development action which should be canceled at all costs. During a meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Chief Ministers residence in the capital, Tirkey appealed to him to direct the concerned officials to cancel the plan of construction of RIMS-2 in Nagdi immediately as it is a matter directly related to the livelihood of those villagers who are looking towards the government with great confidence. Tirkey said that the India Alliance government working under the leadership of Hemant Soren has taken many steps in the interest of the common people, which on one hand has benefited the people immediately and on the other hand has also opened the doors for the development of Jharkhand and economic progress of the people on a long-term level. Shri Tirkey said that many attempts were made to acquire the cultivable land of the villagers for IIM, Triple IT or widening of National Highway, but after strong opposition from the villagers and their justified demands, those plans were canceled, but now the way conspiracies are being hatched to acquire land for the construction of RIMS-2 is completely against the sensitive sentiments of the popular government towards the common villagers and farmers. Shri Tirkey said that in proportion to the population, there is not enough cultivable land in the Nagdi region. Also, the important thing is that most of the people there are dependent on farming for their livelihood and the ground situation there is well known not only to Chief Minister Hemant Soren but also to Guruji Shibu Soren himself. He also understands the needs of the people very well. Shri Tirkey told Shri Soren that on May 17, the peasants and villagers came to know about this when they saw the land being measured by the government Amin for RIMS-2, whereas from 1956-57 to 2012, the government has been issuing land revenue receipts for this land in the name of the peasants.   During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Shri Tirkey appealed to him to immediately finalize the PESA rules and implement the PESA law because this is a matter deeply connected to the needs and aspirations of the villagers. Along with this, there is a very sensitive issue related to the natural and human resources of Jharkhand along with water, forest, land. Shri Tirkey said that implementation of PESA law will also help in controlling displacement, migration and land looting.   Shri Tirkey also appealed to the Chief Minister to take effective steps to improve the disappointing economic and social condition of the Tana Bhagat community.   Shri Tirkey said that the members of the Tana Bhagat community, which comes under the Scheduled Tribe category, live in Ranchi, Simdega, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Chatra, Latehar and other districts of Jharkhand and they are followers of Mahatma Gandhi and have great faith in non-violence. The senior Congress leader said that along with the Satyagraha movement, the movements conducted by them against the British government and the Zamindari system also have their place in history, but the expected development of the Tana Bhagat community and the Tana Bhagat dominated areas of the state has not happened till now.   Shri Tirkey discussed with the Chief Minister about the Tana Bhagat Vikas Pradhikaran formed on 28 April 2017 and said that till now this authority has failed in its objectives and has not been able to discharge even partial responsibilities. Shri Tirkey said that under the Tana Bhagat Vikas Pradhikaran itself, there was a provision for the formation of an executive committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary or Secretary of the Revenue, Registration and Land Reforms Department as well as the formation of an executive agency under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner at the district level and its objective was to carry out targeted economic and social survey of Tana Bhagats as well as to implement the schemes of the Central and State Government at the ground level for the all-round development of this community and select the beneficiaries. Shri Tirkey appealed to the Chief Minister to direct the concerned officers to make the authority effective at the ground level and for the development of Tana Bhagats.
