Giriraj Singh slams Mamata; says Jharkhand Becoming Bengal, Bengal turning Bangladesh

  • | Tuesday | 24th June, 2025

Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh launched a scathing attack on both the Jharkhand and West Bengal governments , during a programme held in the Adityapur Industrial Area on Monday. Addressing the media, Singh accused Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren of attempting to turn the state into a replica of Bengal, while alleging that West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is steering her state toward becoming Bangladesh. Soren wants to make Jharkhand Bengal, while Mamata Banerjee wants to make Bengal Bangladesh, the minister declared, stirring political tension across the region. Singh also commented on recent political developments in Jharkhand, particularly the shift of former Chief Minister Champai Soren from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He strongly endorsed Champai Sorens decision, calling it absolutely correct and claiming it would help protect the state from the kind of political influence he attributes to Bengal. Champai Soren has taken the right step by joining BJP. This move is essential to prevent Jharkhand from going the Bengal way, Singh remarked. Taking his political commentary beyond Jharkhand, Singh also targeted the leadership in neighbouring Bihar. He expressed confidence that the people of Bihar would once again reject the return of the Lalu Prasad Yadav family to power and that the BJP would form the next government with a full majority. In addition to his political statements, Singh also outlined development-oriented plans focused on Jharkhands textile sector. He highlighted that indoor tassar cultivation has already commenced in Nagdi, Ranchi, and that the Centre is actively preparing a proposal for the establishment of a large-scale textile industry in the state. The tassar and textile industries hold significant potential in Jharkhand. We are working on a plan to transform the state into a hub for textile manufacturing, he said. Singh further touched on the broader achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government, particularly in the healthcare sector. He pointed out that new MBBS colleges are being established across the country and that medical education infrastructure has seen substantial growth in recent years. India is making great strides in the field of medicine under PM Modis leadership. The number of medical colleges and MBBS seats has increased remarkably, Singh stated. The ministers visit to Adityapur was part of his outreach to industrial stakeholders, with an emphasis on strengthening infrastructure and investment in the textile sector. However, it was his sharp political remarks that drew the most attention, setting the tone for the heated political environment ahead of the upcoming state and general elections.
