Agriculture Minister holds review meeting to promote fisheries in State

The Fisheries Department is going to enter the field with a massive action plan to realize the dream of blue revolution in Jharkhand. The states Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey has set a target to draw a long line regarding fish seed and feed in the state. While there is a plan to renovate the ponds of the state for fisheries, the Fisheries Department will prepare a proposal for setting up a feed mill in every district of the state. The Minister gave the guidelines in an important meeting of the Fisheries Department held in Ranchis Animal Husbandry Bhawan. From the Directorate officials to the District Fisheries Officers from across the state participated in the meeting of the Fisheries Department. The main emphasis in the review meeting was on promoting fish seed. For this, the current fish seed production was reviewed in every district. In this review, while the performance of many districts was better, many districts have been instructed to improve their performance. During the review meeting, Tirkey directed to prepare a list of ponds filled with soil and silt at the district level. All such ponds will be renovated at the department level. There is a plan to make a provision of funds for this in the supplementary budget. Not only this, it has also been asked to prepare a future plan regarding the current status of the ponds of government fish farms and its development. During the review meeting, 6 feed mills of the state were also reviewed. A detailed account of the production capacity and current production of the feed mill was kept. The Minister instructed to prepare a proposal for setting up feed mills in all the districts of the state keeping in mind the need for fish feed in the state. Not only this, a committee has been asked to be formed to upgrade the already operating feed mills. This committee will prepare a proposal for upgrading the feed mill and submit it to the department. She also instructed to get the feed prepared in the states feed mills tested every three months. In the meeting, she has asked the officials to visit the districts instead of the directorate. Division level in-charges will visit 2 to 3 districts every month. The report related to the district visit will be forwarded to the concerned senior officer. The officials have been advised to work in clusters. It has been clearly instructed that the officials will definitely discuss the departments schemes with the local MLA and Mukhiya. The cooperation and advice of the public representatives regarding the scheme has to be given priority. Along with this, instructions have been given to give the benefits of the scheme to new beneficiaries instead of one beneficiary every time. Tirkey said in clear words on this occasion that do such work that people take your name and always remember your work. Fisheries Director H N Dwivedi, Special Secretary Pradeep Hazari, Deputy Director of the Department, Divisional Incharge, District Fisheries Officer were present in the meeting.
