Undeclared emergency prevailing in India since 2014: JMM

  • | Thursday | 26th June, 2025

On the day of completion of 50 years of Emergency, General Secretary cum Spokesperson of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Supriyo Bhattacharya said in a press conference here on Wednesday that all the countrymen know the time, period and circumstances of the Emergency imposed in the country 50 years ago, but since 2014, an undeclared Emergency is going on in the country and the countrymen are seeing a long period of 11 years of Emergency. Comparing the 11-year tenure of PM Modi with the undeclared Emergency, Bhattacharya said that on 08 November 2016 at 08 pm, economic emergency was imposed in the country in the name of demonetization. At that time people were wandering from door to door, there were long queues in front of banks, many people lost their lives but the objectives for which demonetization was done failed. The JMM Central General Secretary said that three years after demonetisation, the Modi government imposed an emergency for farmers when three agricultural laws were implemented without debate in the Rajya Sabha. More than 700 farmers lost their lives in protest against this. Then just as the emergency was lifted in 1977, the law for farmers was also withdrawn. Bhattacharya said that an emergency was imposed in Parliament in the year 2023 in the country, when more than 95 opposition MPs were suspended without any reason. He further said that today an emergency order has been issued by the Home Ministry by giving strange arguments. The BJPs rule is being described as Amritkaal. Everyone knows where the country is heading. The terrorist of Pahalgam has not been caught till date. The team of MPs went around the world and made people aware of Pakistans misdeeds, but did not call a special session of Parliament. The government imposed an emergency even during the time of Coronavirus spread when we were held captive without any deliberation. The aim of BJP is to suppress the voice of the people. He said that the country is not able to put forward its views on the global crisis. Our citizens are being humiliated and deported from other countries. The country is facing a special kind of emergency today. He said that 11 years ago newspapers were printed and then sold. Now the government first buys newspapers and then prints them. Bhattacharya said that Jharkhand has been the biggest victim of the Centres emergency. When we talk about our rights and entitlements, ED, IT and CBI become active. Social workers like Stan Swamy were taken into custody and were left to die in jail.
