Rescued tiger released into PTR

  • | Friday | 27th June, 2025

Palamu tiger reserve on Thursday got a new carnivore in the rescued tiger of Silli. This tiger was released into this reserve in accordance with the SoP as laid down by the NTCA.   PTR officials are tight lipped about the range or beat where this tiger has been released here. Its all for the sake of the safety of this tiger.   The tiger had travelled a road journey worth little over 170 kms from Silli to PTR in a rescue van.   Deputy director south division of PTR Kumar Ashish told this correspondent the tiger most joyfully leapt forward from the cage once its gate was lifted and sprinted like anything. However after some 25 meters or so the tiger controlled its speed.   Sources said this is the first episode of its kind when a rescued tiger has been released in the jungles of the PTR.    Sources said the rescued male adult tiger had not eaten anything right from the time it had strayed into the house of a Mahto of Mardo village where there were six goats on Wednesday.   Wild life, if captivated, refuses eating. This rescued tiger did the same. A team of three vets which monitored this tiger too didnt prescribe any food during the captivity hours of the tiger.   However back in the PTR this tiger has ample opportunities for preying either wild boar or cattle that come for grazing.   Sources said the PTR personnel has ensured no prey shortage for this tiger.   This tiger has a saga of rescue and release all in a very professional and meticulous manner.
