Forces recover arms, ammunition after encounter with extremists

JMP eExtremists fleeing from Harkattha forest of Lohardaga had an encounter with the pursuing security forces at Kedli in Latehar, 12 km away. However, seeing the police overpowering them, they took advantage of the forest and fled. During the search, the security forces recovered one SLR magazine, 51 bullets of 7.62 mm, 2 shells, 2 shells of INSAS, one shell of A.K.-47, one magazine pouch, 8 mobiles, 1 walkie-talkie, 1 power bank, Rs 3100 cash, Naxal pamphlets, diary and items of daily use. Lohardaga SP said that during the campaign being run against the Naxalites, secret information was received that JJMP supremo Ravindra Yadav, Sachin, Vishal, Kaleshwar Kherwar, Shivji are roaming in the forests of Harkattha village of Peshrar police station area with their squad and are planning to carry out a major militant incident. On the information, an expedition team was formed with Kisko SDPO along with the company commander of G Company SSB, Jobang, Caro, Peshrar, Bagru, technical branch personnel, QRT, SAT. When the expedition team moved ahead of Peshrar, it was found that the squad had gone ahead of Harkattha. While searching the route of the expedition team, when it reached Kedli Toli of Latehar, about 12 km away, it was found that the squad was there. When the expedition team was alerted and started moving towards the squad with caution, the JJMP squad started firing at the police force. After this, the security forces retaliated and fired. Due to the retaliation of the expedition team, the JJMP militants took advantage of the darkness and the forest and fled. After this, on searching, an SLR magazine, 51 bullets, and other items were recovered. In this regard, a case has been registered at Peshrar police station (Case number- 04/25).
