Postal Dept, Jharkhand and CBI, ACB ink MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indian Postal Department, Jharkhand Circle, and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Ranchi in the presence of Chief Postmaster General, V.C. Roy at the office of Chief Postmaster General, Meghdoot Bhawan, Doranda, Ranchi. This MoU was signed by R V Chaudhary, Director Postal Services on behalf of the Department of Posts and MS Khan, Deputy Inspector General on behalf of the Central Bureau of Investigation. It is known that the Indian Postal Department has a vast network of more than 1,55,000 post offices in the country and 4,600 in the state. Under this agreement, CBI, ACB, Ranchi will use the Speed Post service of Ranchi Indian Postal Department for safe and timely delivery of notices, summons and documents sent by it. With a specially designed envelope and acknowledgement (POD) system, this service will facilitate the operations of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB). Under this arrangement, the Department of Posts will provide centralized billing and free pick-up service. The service standards ensure delivery of 1-2 days locally, 1.4 days in the state, and 2.5 days in other parts of the country. Barcode tracing and digital billing under the IT Modernization Project 2.0 of the Department of Posts will strengthen this collaboration.
