Tejashwi pens open letter to Bihar ahead of polls,  vows to make state number one in the country

Leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has written an open letter to the people, outlining an ambitious vision for the states future ahead. Sharing the open letter on social media platform X, Yadav promised economic, social, and administrative reforms if the RJD-led Grand Alliance (GA) or Mahagatbandhan was voted to power in the upcoming state assembly elections. Assembly elections in Bihar are due in October-November. In a more than 1000-word letter, Yadav said under his leadership Bihar would become the number one state in the country within five years of coming to power. A blueprint and roadmap for inclusive and progressive development had already been prepared, he said. This is just the beginning. I have a complete blueprint to make Bihar the top state in five years. We will compel this (incumbent NDA) government to announce and copy welfare schemes like Rs 2500 monthly support for women (the Maa-Bahan Maa Yojana), reduce LPG prices, provide 200 units of free electricity, fix land survey corruption, enforce a domicile policy, create jobs, curb migration, implement 65 per cent reservation, end bribery in police stations and blocks, fight crime, and empower daughters, the RJD leader said in the letter. Instead of blame games over the last 20 years of NDA rule, Tadav has promised to focus on inclusive, result-oriented politics from day one. "My intentions are honest and my policies are strong. I am young, but my words are firm," he wrote. The transformation we collectively visualised for Bihar is finally beginning to show results. For nearly 20 years, a government lacking principles, motivation, and clear goals kept misleading the people by blaming the past and dismissing everything as impossible. In the 2020 elections, we presented a modern and ambitious blueprint to build a new Bihar, with the goal of making it the number one state in the country. Recognising that Bihar has the largest youth population in India, we took a firm pledge to create 1 million government jobs. At the time, the NDA government mocked our promises, questioning our intent and the feasibility—asking, Where are the jobs? Wheres the money? Yadav said despite a short 17-month tenure (of the Nitish Kumar-led GA government in which RJD was a partner), we proved our commitment by delivering 500,000 jobs without paper leaks, delays, or controversies. Another 350,000 jobs were already in the pipeline, he said, adding that this was achieved through sheer willpower, dedication, and a deep love for our land. We proved that with the right mindset, nothing is impossible, he added. On the domicile policy, Yadav vowed to implement an unprecedented policy to prioritise the pride, dignity, and rights of native Biharis. Whether it was about the caste census or job creation, we stood our ground and forced the government to act. The ruling NDA is now mimicking our policies in fear of losing power. When we announced Rs 2 lakh assistance for 94 lakh poor families and increasing pensions from Rs 400 to Rs 1500 for the elderly, widows, and disabled, the government woke up and started copying us, pretending to care for the people, he said. Yadav said if voted to power, his government would also push for prosperity for farmers, traders, employees, and labourers—"goals that this government has failed to even consider in the last 20 years. .
