2 Maoists held in Giridih, IED seized

"We learnt that a group of armed rebels led by senior Maoist leader Krishna Hasda alias Abhinash Da were camping close to Mandaldih village of Pirtand. The two Maoists were arrested during raids at suspected locations," ASP Deepak Kumar said, adding the two arrested were scheduled to attend the marriage ceremony of the daughter of the senior Maoist leader in Manjhladih. "During interrogation, Manjhi revealed that he and few others were asked to organise the entire marriage function scheduled for April 19. A wooden cot, mattresses, almirah and other articles that were kept in the house of another aide Binod Manjhi were also found. Dhanbad: Two Maoists were arrested by police and security forces at Mandaldih village under Pirtand police station area of Giridih district on Sunday afternoon.The arrested rebels were identified as Vijay Manjhi (35), a resident of Pargo village under Nimiyaghat police station and Babu Lal Murmu (40) of Bega gadha village in Bokaro.Police also seized two improvised explosive devices (IED), Maoist literature, uniforms, banners and other gadgets from the duo.

They were asked to make all the necessary purchases using the money they collected as levy over the past few days from various places," DSP A K Veenha said.Veenha added that both the arrested rebels were wanted in connection with several Maoist-related activities over the last one decade in Pirtand, Nimiyaghat and other police station areas of the region.Ajay Mahto, Nirmala and Krishna are among other senior Maoist leaders who are on the wanted list of the police in Pirtand region.
