Meghalaya signs MoU with SBI for online payments

"The Government now would be escalating all its transactions for collection of tax and non-tax revenue through the online system known as Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS) covering all the departments in a phased manner.

SHILLONG: As part of the state government's drive towards migrating government transactions to the digital mode, the state finance department signed two MoUs on Monday with the State Bank of India for SBIePay and SBI CMP facilities at the main secretariat building.The state government has already established a new treasury, called Cyber Treasury , which dedicatedly handles all online transactions of government receipts across the state for a few selected departments as of now."The Government now would be escalating all its transactions for collection of tax and non-tax revenue through the online system known as Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS) covering all the departments in a phased manner. The SBI CMP will help Government of Meghalaya for make its payment online and reduce paperwork and manual reconciliation of government transactions," Goyal added.With implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the anvil, these MoUs are expected to give the dealers and other citizens the desired platform for conducting financial transactions with the state government on a digital platform.
