HC seeks info on schools in district wise

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh high court on Wednesday directed the principal secretary (education) to file an affidavit, giving the number of schools district wise, sanctioned posts lying vacant subject wise and posts for which requisition stands sent to the HP Staff Selection Commission. The students had complained against non-availability of proper staff in their school, saying they were being deprived of their right to education. They also alleged that the school had no mathematics teacher for the last 11 years and no science teacher for the last three years.The court has listed the matter for further hearing on September 12. The court also told the officer to give a time frame in which the remaining vacancies, which are required to be filled up, shall be filled.A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma passed these orders on a petition taken up suo moto by the court on a petition filed by the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Doghari, in Mandi district .
