Himachal Pradesh government gives 25 acres for PGI satellite centre

CHANDIGARH: On Friday, the Himachal Pradesh government allotted 25 acre of land to PGIMER, Chandigarh to set up the hospital’s first satellite centre in the state. Earlier, a centre was proposed for Baddi but that later changed to Una.The satellite centre will provide specialised services in the fields of medicine, gynaecology , general surgery, paediatrics, ophthalmology , ENT, dental, radiology and dermatology. It will be a temporary centre until the 300-bedded hospital’s building is complete. This will be a temporary centre,” said Dr Vipin Kaushal, who was with the team that visited Una.The centre had sanctioned Rs 495 crore with the aim of sharing the patient burden at the PGI.

CHANDIGARH: On Friday, the Himachal Pradesh government allotted 25 acre of land to PGIMER, Chandigarh to set up the hospital’s first satellite centre in the state. The centre which was approved last year by the Union ministry of health and family welfare, will have 300 beds.On Thursday, a team of experts from the PGIMER visited the Una district hospital. It will be a temporary centre until the 300-bedded hospital’s building is complete. “Two doctors have already joined. Six rooms have been given where the doctors will sit to examine the patients. This will be a temporary centre,” said Dr Vipin Kaushal, who was with the team that visited Una.The centre had sanctioned Rs 495 crore with the aim of sharing the patient burden at the PGI. Around 15% of the total patients coming to the PGI are from Himachal Pradesh. Earlier, a centre was proposed for Baddi but that later changed to Una.The satellite centre will provide specialised services in the fields of medicine, gynaecology , general surgery, paediatrics, ophthalmology , ENT, dental, radiology and dermatology. As many as 10 specialist posts have been approved for this centre. These specialists will work in the temporary centre until the state-of-the-art centre is built.
