Shimla: While disposing of the application filed by residents of Rauri village in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh , National Green Tribunal has directed that Gujarat Ambuja Cement Limited must discharge its corporate social responsibility by organizing regular medical camps in the area, ensuring compliance with air pollution standards and by taking remedial measures if found wanting.Principal Bench of Tribunal, headed by its chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, made the above observation in its November 13 order.It ruled out further action in view of the report submitted in compliance with the direction issued by Tribunal on July 18. According to them no-objection certificatehas been given by the authorities unmindful of the impact on environment.While conducting the hearing on July 18, the tribunal had observed that since there is material to indicate that the noise pollution and air pollution were caused by the plant, which to an extent adversely affect the health of the inhabitants, a proper clinical evaluation should be done.Accordingly, the tribunal constituted a fresh team tasked to examine the extent of noise and air pollution caused by the plant.The committee included member secretary, Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority or his nominee, a doctor nominated by the director, PGI, Chandigarh, a doctor nominated by the director, Indira Gandhi Medical College , Shimla, a representative of the Union environment ministry.
