Opposition slams it as ‘directionless’

SHIMLA: The opposition Congress, on its part, has termed the state budget directionless stating that “only jugglery of numbers has been done”.Leader of opposition in the state assembly Mukesh Agnihotri said the budget was nothing except a jugglery of numbers. He added that there was no focus on resource generation for improving economic condition of the state. He added that the state had slipped down in tourism status on national ranking. He added that there is no mention of 36 schemes announced in the last budget neither there was a mention of Rs 65,000 crore for the national highways in state.Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Kuldeep Singh Rathore termed the budget as directionless and a ‘jumla budget’ presented in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He said the budget lacked vision and failed to reveal how the income of farmers would be increased.Meanwhile, health minister Vipin Singh Parmar has hailed the budget by claiming that the welfare of every section of society had been ensured.

He added that the state had slipped down in tourism status on national ranking. “The state government is not able to provide school uniforms and laptops to students, smart cities are not coming up while the heli taxi service has never started and unemployment has risen miserably,” Rathore added.Former state Congress president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Thakur gave three-hour-long budget speech in the assembly, but at the end nothing came out of it. He said the budget lacked vision and failed to reveal how the income of farmers would be increased.Meanwhile, health minister Vipin Singh Parmar has hailed the budget by claiming that the welfare of every section of society had been ensured.
