Almost all the shops participated in the bandh call given by BJP to protest against the gangrape and murder of a minor girl in Kotkhai area of Shimla district on July 4. Raising slogans against the Congress government, protesters also blocked the busy circular road near Victory tunnel.As in last few days public sentiment is running high on the incident and police stations and policemen are being attacked, heavy deployment of police has been made in Shimla to avert any untoward incident.As BJP has given bandh call in entire Shimla district, leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal has appealed to those participating in the bandh to ensure those injured in Rampur bus accident do not face any problem reaching hospital. He also issued an appeal to the protestors to help the injured.Dhumal has already announced that protest demonstration would continue till justice is not done to the minor girl. He said that 16-year-old girl was gangraped and murdered on July 4 and her body was recovered on July 6 but till July 10 there was no action taken by the Congress government of state.He said that it was under the pressure of different organizations that police claimed to have cracked the case and posted the photographs of alleged culprits of the case on the Facebook page of chief minister of Himachal Pradesh and after a few minutes these were deleted.He said this raises suspicion that efforts were being made to shield the real culprits.He said that a day later police arrested six other persons and gave their story of the case, which was full of contradictions, and this sparked state wide protests and almost entire state was on boil.Dhumal said that one of the accused was killed in the prison and constant efforts are being made to tamper with the truth. He said that people of state want justice for the minor girl and her family and those involved in the gruesome crime be punished.
