many injured in road accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Ramban, 4 killed

A police official said that a pickup truck carrying labourers and their family members from Chhattisgarh was on its way to Srinagar when it skidded off the road and rolled down 500 ft and landed on the banks of Bishlari nallah around 5:30 am.

Four persons, including a child, were killed and as many persons injured in a road accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Ramban district on Wednesday morning, police said.

A police official said that a pickup truck carrying labourers and their family members from Chhattisgarh was on its way to Srinagar when it skidded off the road and rolled down 500 ft and landed on the banks of Bishlari nallah around 5:30 am.

Police, army and Civil QRT Volunteers from Ramban started a rescue operation soon after the accident and shifted the injured to a hospital after hectic efforts.

SHO Ramsoo Rouf Khan, who was supervising the rescue efforts, said two labourers and the driver were found dead at the spot and one female baby succumbed at DH Ramban. He said four injured are under treatment at DH Ramban
