Rs 1.22 crore worth chemical stolen from GNFC containers

BHARUCH: Many HDPE drums containing toluene diisocyanate manufactured by Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company (GNFC) and valued at Rs1.22 crore were found missing in March. The theft was carried out from four containers shipped to Jeddah, Oman, Mombasa and Brazil . Customers found the drums missing and complained to GNFC officials. Primary investigation found that the theft was possibly conducted by two drivers of the containers of a transport company. There could be a nexus between the drivers and some chemical traders.”

BHARUCH: Many HDPE drums containing toluene diisocyanate manufactured by Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company (GNFC) and valued at Rs1.22 crore were found missing in March. The theft was carried out from four containers shipped to Jeddah, Oman, Mombasa and Brazil . Customers found the drums missing and complained to GNFC officials. An official complaint was lodged at Dahej police station in this connection on Saturday.Police inspector J N Zala told TOI that the containers were sealed and shipped via Hajira port near Surat to different countries in March. Primary investigation found that the theft was possibly conducted by two drivers of the containers of a transport company. “We are trying to find out where the seal of the containers was broken. There could be a nexus between the drivers and some chemical traders.”
