Two youths from Limbayat drowned in Tapi near Vaghecha

Surat: Two youths drowned in river Tapi near Vaghecha in Bardoli taluka on Sunday evening. They were part of a group of 11 friends who had gone to the riverbank from Limbayat area of the city. Of the 11 friends, 10 went inside the river to take a bath.Abdullah was caught in the strong currents and got pulled inside. After a full night operation, two bodies were fished out in the morning.Police said the group members were daily wage labourers in the textile industry. They also informed the Kadodara outpost police that reached the spot and began search operation with the help of local swimmers and fire brigade personnel.

Their bodies were fished out from the river on Monday.The deceased were identified as Abdullah Nasir Nisar Ahmed Ansari (16), a resident of Omnagar in Limbayat, and Shoaib Mumtaz Ansari (17) of Mithi Khadi, Maruti Chowk.According to officials of the Bardoli police station, a group of 11 friends had come to the Tapi riverbank on the backside of Vagheshwar temple on four motorcycles. Of the 11 friends, 10 went inside the river to take a bath.Abdullah was caught in the strong currents and got pulled inside. Shoaib tried to save, but he, too, got dragged into the river with Abdullah and drowned.Eight others, who had entered the river, ran out and called for help. They also informed the Kadodara outpost police that reached the spot and began search operation with the help of local swimmers and fire brigade personnel. After a full night operation, two bodies were fished out in the morning.Police said the group members were daily wage labourers in the textile industry.
