SURAT: Two unidentified assailants fired two rounds at a businessman in Udhna area of city on Monday when he was present in his office. The businessman survived unhurt in the attack.The assailants arrived on a motorcycle and their faces were covered. Police investigation revealed that the attackers fired at the victim by mistake. They came to target some other person but fired at the businessman present in the neighbouring shop, police investigation revealed.Police booked two unidentified persons in Udhna police station for allegedly firing two rounds at a electrical goods businessman at ground floor of Silicon Shoppers complex . The assailants later escaped on a motorcycle. Police recovered CCTV footages of the complex and neighbouring buildings for investigation.Ashok Shah, an electrical goods businessman, was present at his office on ground floor of the commercial complex when one person entered the building. The man wearing a black helmet, dark blue shirt and jeans pant stopped outside office of Shah for a second and later stepped in.He fired two rounds from a pistol and escaped. “It seems that the businessman was targeted in mistaken identity. The attackers came to target some other businessman but fired at Shah. Police are working to investigate the crime,” said Harekrishna Patel , joint commissioner of police, sector I.
