Even if the water level reaches up to 9.5 metre in future, it would not enter city areas. We just need to build another 600 metre of embankment, which would be done once the monsoon season is over,” said Bhairav Desai, executive engineer, Limbayat zone, Surat Municipal Corporation.Water enters Parvat village, which is situated on the banks of Meethi Khadi, every year because there is no protection of embankment. “Once the embankment comes up here too, the problem of flooding will be over,” Desai said.People of Vambay Awas have been provided with boats by the local authorities for commuting. Apart from this place, no other part in the city has witnessed floods subsequent to heavy rain a day earlier.
