Tight police bandobast made for Rath Yatra in city

Surat: Surat police have made elaborate security arrangements for the festival of Rath Yatra in the city on Saturday. Jahangirpura Rath Yatra by ISKCON Temple will start at around 3pm from railway station. Traffic will be diverted wherever necessary in view of the Rath Yatra festival on Saturday, police said. People will have to make use of Vivekananda Bridge, Hope Bridge and Jillani Bridge to go to railway station. They will be helped by members of quick response team deployed all along the routes.Police plan to stop traffic from Gujarat gas circle to Athwa circle on Sardar Bridge from 5pm onwards.

Surat: Surat police have made elaborate security arrangements for the festival of Rath Yatra in the city on Saturday. Large number of police personnel will be deployed all along the routes of five different processions to be taken out to celebrate the festival and also at sensitive places in the city.Rath Yatras are taken out in Surat every year from areas under the jurisdiction of Pandesara, Sachin, Katargam, Jahangirpura and Mahidharpura police stations. Jahangirpura Rath Yatra by ISKCON Temple will start at around 3pm from railway station. The Rath Yatra will pass through Ring Road, Sardar Bridge and Rander Road and is scheduled to reach Jahangirpura by 8pm.An SRP company, 239 traffic brigade jawans, 920 home guards, 1,235 policemen and women, 99 police sub-inspectors, 31 police inspectors, six assistant commissioners of police, three deputy commissioners of police and two joint commissioners of police will ensure security to the Rath Yatras and also help maintain law and order in the city.Cops deployed on the bridges will ensure that the Rath Yatras pass quickly without any crowd obstruction.
