19-year-old murdered in broad daylight in Udhna

Surat: A 19-year-old college student was stabbed to death in broad daylight by three unidentified persons on a crowded road in Udhna area of the city on Saturday. Then they took out their knives and stabbed Pawar multiple times. He was an external student and in first year of an undergraduate course of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU). Pawar, who was also doing part-time job besides studying, collapsed on ground and died on the spot.Deepak Sirsat, a neighbour of Pawar, lodged the police complaint. Pawar, who was on his new scooter, tried to leave the space after talking on his mobile phone but the assailants stabbed him in front, side and back of his body.

The murder took place a few metres away from BRC police chowki despite heavy police bandobast for the Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath in the city.Video of the brutal murder captured on a CCTV camera went viral on social media and there was a furore. However, police are yet to arrest the accused. Two suspects rounded up based on the CCTV footage are being questioned.Samadhan Pawar, a resident of Avirbhav Society, was talking to someone on his mobile phone near Kailash Nagar when three young men arrived on a motorcycle and started a conversation with him. Then they took out their knives and stabbed Pawar multiple times. Pawar, who was on his new scooter, tried to leave the space after talking on his mobile phone but the assailants stabbed him in front, side and back of his body. Pawar, who was also doing part-time job besides studying, collapsed on ground and died on the spot.Deepak Sirsat, a neighbour of Pawar, lodged the police complaint. Sirsat was passing from the spot when he noticed Pawar lying there on the road.Police suspect personal rivalry to be the reason behind the attack on Pawar and are investigating if he had dispute with anyone in the recent past. “We are yet to make any arrest in the case. We have rounded up some persons but only after arrest of all the accused, the information will be shared,” said Bipin Ahire, deputy commissioner of police, Zone III.Pawar’s father is unemployed because of poor health. His mother too is suffering from some illness. Pawar’s elder sister is married. He was an external student and in first year of an undergraduate course of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU).
