Surat: Sexual exploitation and murder of minor girls have been happening at regular intervals in the city since the past few months, and what is disappointing is the failure of the police to crack these cases immediately. Thus, some perpetrators of the crimes are still moving around freely and may repeat the crime again.Surat district police are yet to crack the case of rape and murder of a six-year-old girl whose body was found hanging from a tree near Vakaneda village of Surat district on January 3. Anjali Chaudhary was hanged from the tree by the culprit using her leggings. She had gone missing from home on January 2.“We will investigate the case further to nab the person involved. I don’t have exact details of the case now,” said Rajkumar Pandian, inspector general of police, Surat range.The gruesome murder of a four-year-old girl whose body was found from the bushes in Pandesara near Vadod on August 7 shook the city. The girl is yet to be identified. He body had over 30 injury marks. However, police claim she was not sexually assaulted.“We are making efforts, but are yet to get any success in ascertaining the identity of the girl. We are trying our best to crack the case,” said D N Patel, additional commissioner of police, sector II.Police are yet to arrest anyone for rape of a two-year-old girl found injured and unconscious near railway tracks in Udhna on September 17. The girl was kidnapped by a man when she was playing near her house. They are also yet to arrest anyone for rape of a five-year-old girl who was picked up by someone from near Modi Estate in Dindoli on Sunday last. However, cops were able to crack the brutal rape of another girl of same age on Sunday by arresting a 19-year-old man. The minor girl was kidnapped from her house and raped by the accused. The girl managed to return home at around 1.45am.“We are investigating Dindoli rape case and are hopeful of arresting the accused soon. Our teams are working in different directions,” said Harikrishna Patel, joint commissioner of police, sector I.“Police are making strenuous efforts in cracking these cases. The accused will be arrested soon,” city police commissioner Satish Sharma said.
