Surat: Ahmed Patel, MP and treasurer of All India Congress Committee, said, “Surtis know how BJP got so many votes from Surat. We all know everyone in Surat is unhappy. Be it people connected with diamond and textile sectors or those working in any other industry. Every segment of society is crying and so the time has come to throw the BJP out.”Addressing people in Sarva Dharma Sankalp Sammelan organized by Bhasha Bhashi Sammelan cell of the party at Vadod near here on Sunday, he said terrorism and unemployment have increased ever since BJP has come to power at the centre and different states in the country. He said BJP leaders are making everyone fight because it is their political game plan to grab power. Ahmed Patel also gave tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.The meeting was held on the birthday of late Congress leader Rizwan Usmani who once headed Bhasha Bhashi Sammelan cell of the party in Surat. Subodh Kant Sahay, former Union minister; Raj Babbar, MP; Amit Chavda, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president; Paresh Dhanani, leader of opposition in assembly; and Lalji Desai, chairman of Seva Dal, were among those who attended it.
