Surat Municipal Corporation starts recovery of Rs 46 cr property tax from Reliance, BSNL

SURAT: The water demand in the Diamond City has come down by 10% that is 130 MLD (million litres per day) over the last one week. Civic officials expect low demand to continue till November 22. Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) authorities estimates that nearly 25% per cent of 50 lakh population fo the city were out of town for Diwali holidays.S Bhagwakar, executive engineer in hydraulic department of SMC said, “We regularly supply about 1,270 to 1,280 MLD water during normal days. However, this Diwali the supply was reduced to about 1,140 MLD since November 5.”During the holidays, the SMC took up yearly maintenance work of its water works and also saved significant amount of water.Saving an average of 130 MLD of water over holiday period that extends for 16 days will lead total saving of about 2,000 MLD.
