Surat: For the second consecutive year, diamond and jewellery connoisseurs in the Diamond City will not be able to visit the annual gems and jewellery event ‘Sparkle’ being organized by Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) in association with Gujarat Government here for three days from Friday.Like previous year, the SGCCI has decided to keep the format of the Sparkle event as Business to Business (B2B), which means that only buyers connected with the gems and jewellery sector will be able to visit the exhibition. It will be inaugurated by cabinet minister Ganpat Vasava in the presence of Tony Huber, consulate general of Australia from Mumbai.Around 125 companies, including the diamond and jewellery companies from Surat, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Jaipur are participating in the event.The Sparkle event will see a series of seminars on topics such as synthetic diamonds, assaying of gold bullion as per national standards, identifying synthetic diamonds, know your diamonds, store to multi-store, Indian carat etc.“We want to project Surat as an international sourcing hub for diamonds and jewellery.
