Spark from eatery burns down utensil shop in Adajan

Some sparks melted the plastic sheet separating the utensil shop and the eatery.Fire officer Iswar Patel said, “When we reached the spot the closed utensil shop was engulfed in fire. There was no way space for us to reach the shop to douse the fire. The complex houses three tuition classes and a hospital above the shops on first and second floor. The shop shares wall with an eatery.On Wednesday morning, for some reason dark smoke and fire sparks were seen coming out of the small chimney which started spreading. Surat: In a major fire , at stainless steel utensil shop in a shopping complex was gutted on LP Savani road in Adajan Wednesday morning.According to shop owner, the fire was caused due to spark from chimney of an eatery adjacent to the shop.Fire officials had to break the back wall of the shop to enter the premises and douse the fire.The fire was reported in wee hours of Wednesday.

Surat: In a major fire , at stainless steel utensil shop in a shopping complex was gutted on LP Savani road in Adajan Wednesday morning.According to shop owner, the fire was caused due to spark from chimney of an eatery adjacent to the shop.Fire officials had to break the back wall of the shop to enter the premises and douse the fire.The fire was reported in wee hours of Wednesday. The complex houses three tuition classes and a hospital above the shops on first and second floor. All patients and students of tuition class had to be evacuated. However, nobody was hurt due to the fire.According to the officials from fire department the shop located on ground floor is owned by two brothers — Jagdish and Natwarlal Rajpurohit at Mahalaxmi Square near LP Savani circle in Adajan. The shop shares wall with an eatery.On Wednesday morning, for some reason dark smoke and fire sparks were seen coming out of the small chimney which started spreading. We had to drill a hole in the back wall of the shop to get entry to douse the fire.”Patel added that the commercial complex houses three tuition classes and a small hospital on first and second floor of the complex just above these utensil shop.Basant Parikh, chief fire officer of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said, “The shops did not even have the minimum fire safety equipment like fire extinguishers. We will be issuing notices to them.”
