Surat: Congress municipal councillor and his four associates were booked by the Sarthana police on Thursday for allegedly thrashing their party worker in a farm house in Yogi Chowk area.Victim Ankit Padsala, 22, who owns an ice cream shop in Puna, lodged a complaint naming ward 15 councillor Nilesh Kumbhani and his friends Dharmesh Khichadiya, Bhautik Koldiya, Ashok Godani and Nitin Jiyani.Padsala, who suffered a fracture in the hand after being thrashed with baseball bat, alleged that he was beaten up for his Facebook post which Kumbhani found objectionable.Padsala alleged that Kumbhani called him to Sardar Farm at Yogi Chowk on Tuesday night and was forced to confess making a comment on a fake Facebook page of one of the accused. The victim also alleged that the accused made his confession video asking to to say that the FB comment was made at the direction Ashok Jirawala, the Congress municipal councillor from ward 3 – Varachha.When questioned about the complaint, Kumbhani said, “Padsala is part of a gang that creates fake Facebook pages of different people and make abusive comments using the platform.
