SMC staffer gets 2 years jail in graft case

Surat: A surveyor in property assessment department of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) was sentenced to two years jail by a special court here on Monday. He was fined Rs 500 and if he fails to pay it he will get one month additional jail.tnn The accused was caught accepting bribe of Rs 700 in 2006 for transferring property to the new owner.Dilip Presswala was convicted under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and sentenced to two years.
