Housewife jumps to death in Surat

SURAT: A young housewife committed suicide by jumping from the top floor of her building in Adajan area of the city on Wednesday. Every day, Bhansali and his mother would ask her to get something from her father’s house. He along with his mother Sushila was physically and mentally harassing her for dowry. Bhansali and his mother were arrested on Friday evening. On failing to bring gold, silver or cash, she would be physically tortured.

The woman’s father registered police complaint against her husband and in-laws for abetting his daughter’s suicide.Adajan police said the woman had got married to lace trader Jaysinh Bhansali 11 months ago. He along with his mother Sushila was physically and mentally harassing her for dowry. Every day, Bhansali and his mother would ask her to get something from her father’s house. On failing to bring gold, silver or cash, she would be physically tortured. Fed up of daily torture, the woman jumped from the top floor of the building to her death.A police officer said investigations have begun and they are recording statements of various people to find out the exact reason why the woman committed suicide. Bhansali and his mother were arrested on Friday evening.
