The trap was laid following a compliant by Adbul Kalam Khan, a resident of Valsad and a construction contractor. The complainant had written a letter to railway to issue payment in May but had not receive payment.For clearing the remaining payment Singh allegedly demanded Rs 2.10 lakh. On not receiving payment despite attempts, Khan lodged complaint in CBI.On Thursday Khan went to make payment of first instalment of Rs 50,000 when CBI officials nabbed Singh red handed accepting the money.

Surat/Ahmedabad: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) of Central Bureau of Investigation, Gandhinagar, arrested a senior section engineer (SSE) of Western Railways posted at Valsad on Thursday accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 as first instalment of total Rs 2.10 lakh demanded to release payment to a construction contractor.Govind Prasad Singh, SSE (works), was arrested by a team from CBI Gandhinagar.He was nabbed in his office while accepting Rs 50,000. The trap was laid following a compliant by Adbul Kalam Khan, a resident of Valsad and a construction contractor. Khan's son Mohammad Asar Khan, who looks after the construction business recently got a contract for construction work around Vapi station.The total contract was for about Rs 70 lakh of which majority of work was completed by the contractor.
