No access to fire vehicles due to narrow roads after blaze in PHC

The entire cooling operation took nearly three hours as it was difficult to manoeuvre our vehicles through the narrow lanes. No injuries were reported.Fire officials claimed that it took them around three hours to douse the flames as their vehicles could not pass through the narrow streets. The firemen were forced to park the engines 200 meters from the building as one entrance was blocked with tin sheets due to an ongoing construction work. The cause is yet to be ascertained.”Fortunately, the civic school above as well as the dispensary was shut, so a major tragedy was averted.

Thane: A fire broke out in a civic-run primary health centre at Gandhi Nagar at 6.50am in the ground plus two storeyed building on Pokhran Road 2 on Monday. The blaze took three hours to be doused as the fire vehicles could not enter the narrow streets and firemen had to park the engines 200 meters from the building. No injuries were reported.Fire officials claimed that it took them around three hours to douse the flames as their vehicles could not pass through the narrow streets. The firemen were forced to park the engines 200 meters from the building as one entrance was blocked with tin sheets due to an ongoing construction work. The officers had to climb onto the steps of a hillock to gain access into the second gate.An official from the Balkum fire station said, “We got a call at 6:50am and sent our team to the spot immediately. The entire cooling operation took nearly three hours as it was difficult to manoeuvre our vehicles through the narrow lanes. Till then we had to use the light potable pumps to douse the flames. We had to pump out water using a diesel generator from the school storage tank. The cause is yet to be ascertained.”Fortunately, the civic school above as well as the dispensary was shut, so a major tragedy was averted. The fire is said to have damaged the entire premises of the centre.
