THANE: Two persons have been arrested for possessing drugs at Rabodi on Thursday. The sleuths from the anti-extortion cell also recovered 5gms of cocaine worth Rs 20,000 from them.The accused have been identified as Zahid Kashmiri and Sanjay Shroff, both resident of Mumbai.The cops had received a tip-off that the accused were running a drug cartel and were going to go to Rabodi to sell the drugs. A team, led by inspectors Rajkumar Kothmire and Vikas Ghodke of the anti extortion cell, laid a trap and arrested the accused.While intercepting them, the cops found 5gm of cocaine on them, said police inspector from the anti-extortion cell Rajkumar Kothmire.The police suspect that they could be a part of a bigger gang and there could be more drugs in their possession.“We are in the process of interrogating the accused and are trying to determine who is the person who supplies the contraband to them as there are several links linked to him,” said Kothmire.A further probe will be carried out to find out more details in the case. Both have been produced before the magistrates court and have been remanded to police custody for further investigations.An offence has been registered at Rabodi police station under Section 8-C, 20 (illegally possessing psychotropic drug) and 22 (seizure of narcotic drug) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances ( NDPS ) Act, 1985.The cops had received a tip-off that the accused were running a drug cartel and were going to go to Rabodi to sell the drugs.
