THANE: A 59-year-old Navi Mumbai resident was tricked and duped of gold and cash amounting to Rs.1.39 lakh at Naupada's Ghantali area by two men on Saturday night.Police said that the victim, Suresh Thikrool , was walking from the Ghantali temple area towards his mother's house nearby at around 10pm on Saturday when a man approached him for directions to an eye hospital in the vicinity.After he responded to the person, the man thanked him and allegedly advised him to remove his gold chain, ring and wallet and wrap it safely in his handkerchief.Just while Thikrool asked him for the reason for the strange suggestion, another passerby reportedly told him to do the same saying it was not safe to wear gold openly in the area.The victim did as he was told and then began discussing safety issues with the duo.
